Department of Art and Design shares 65 years teaching legacy of former college now University of Home Economics, Gulberg Lahore. Department of Art and Design has been house of excellence under the leadership of multiple dynamic personalities who have served this department during their tenure at this institute as educationists. Department of Art and Design has produced hordes of successful professionals who are serving in different walks of life. Major disciplines offered by this department produce proficient and dexterous designers and artists in the fields of textiles designing, interior design, weaving craft and ceramics. Department of Art and Design has also contributed much to promote a learning culture that nurtures education and research. Department of Art and Design houses qualified faculty who work in accordance with the mission and vision of the institute and propagate merit and distinction in all students. The department also continues to contribute to the general wellbeing and welfare of its students by means of motivation, discipline, inspiration and incentive building.
BS Fine Arts, Course Overview
Fine Arts course is an amalgamation of array of sub disciplines in art that can teach the students explore and master different techniques and mediums of drawing and painting, transferable skills, good communication skills, research skills, digital literacy in their own discipline, dexterity in treating art mediums and team work skills to say the least, all those capabilities that help the students to turn into proficient professionals and researchers and enhance their prospects of employability.
BS Fine Arts, Eligibility Criteria
Bs Fine Arts course eligibility criteria include students who have passed 10+2 with 50% of marks from a recognized board. Additionally, the BS eligibility includes students needing to give the entrance exams that are conducted by University.
- Teaching Methodology
The course shall be a combination of various methods including lectures, workshops, seminars, field trips, tutorials and group discussions using audio visual aids. The teacher will only discuss the basic of the concerned topic with pupil subsequently guiding them how to collect, recognize and interpret remaining information.
- Evaluation Method
The courses are designed for better understanding of the subject. Concerned teacher will be responsible for the method of evaluation. A criterion will be set for the evaluation. There will be a separate evaluation system for assignments, presentations and essay writing as per HEC requirements. Student learning will be evaluated with efforts to assess at every level, from group assignments to the individual assignment. System use a variety of methods to inquire into our students’ learning experiences, relying on both direct and indirect measures, and using both quantitative and qualitative methods. System is abide by a principle of transparency in assessment to ensure confidence

- Develop art historical skills, critical inquiry and independent analytical thinking in the discipline of Fine Arts.
- Relate, compare and contrast the major painting styles that emerged in art traditions.
- Understand the work of art in relationship to the societies in which they were created and be able to discuss the cultural, geographical, philosophical, political and social factors that contribute to their creation.

- Scope
After successful completion of the course, the students will be able to transfer knowledge in various areas of Fine Arts. The curriculum would enable the students to interact with the world, their past and present, through the art that was created over centuries. Learning through this curriculum would mean learning about skills, instructional education, social, religious, political and cultural history and contemporary ways to approach research in multifarious fields of art. Students can find their ways in the practical field as painters, designers, art historians, art critics, teachers, research advisors, entrepreneurs. They can find job placements with educational institutes, art galleries, museums, governmental and semi government organizations to name a few.
