PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY

Dr Tayyaba Sohail is an Assistant Professor, in charge of the Department of Sociology and Gender Studies at the University of Home Economics. She has extensive academic and administrative experience at reputable institutions in Lahore such as the University of Management and Technology (UMT) and Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS).
She contributed to developing and designing the programs of BS Sociology, BS Social Work, M.Phil Sociology and PhD Sociology at UMT. During her tenure at LUMS, among others, she led two prime projects in the field of gender and health, funded by the David and Lucile Packard Foundation. While a student at the University of the Punjab, she had been an active member of the PUMUN (Punjab University Model United Nations) society. She represented Pakistan at various national and International platforms like; DuEMUN, MUIMUN, EUROMUN, LUMUN etc.

PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY

Dr. Iram Rubab, an HEC approved supervisor, is Assistant Professor of Sociology and Gender Studies. She also holds the offices of In-charge Student Affairs and In-charge Women Development Centre at UHE. Prior to this, she taught at University of Management and Technology for six years, where she was also chairing the Department of Sociology. She got her PhD in Gender Studies from the University of the Punjab in 2019 and graduated top of her class in her Masters and MPhil in the same. Dr. Rubab is playing an instrumental role in setting up the Gender Studies Degree at UHE, building on her experience in curriculum development at Gender Studies and Sociology Departments (including MPhil and PhD programs) at UMT and as member of National Curriculum Revision Committee (NCRC) of HEC. In a similar vein, she also regularly contributes as member of various boards of studies, including at LCWU, FCCU, and UMT.

In terms of research, she is focused on women rights in Pakistan, particularly in the domains of law, feminist research methods, and socio-cultural empowerment. Recently, her book chapter (‘Women’s experiences of Criminal Justice in Pursuit of Inheritance: Voices from Pakistan’) appeared in The Routledge Handbook of Women’s Experiences of Criminal Justice (Eds. Masson and Booth, 2022). She has also vastly published in other national and international journals and is on the review committees for Pakistan Journal of Women Studies, Gender and Development Journal among others. Dr. Rubab is an HEC approved supervisor and is currently co-supervising a PhD thesis at Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan; she also served as informal mentor during data collection for a PhD student in Gender and Cultural Studies at University of Sydney (July 2017-July 2018).

Additionally, Dr. Rubab is particularly focused on enhancing industry linkages. She worked as a Gender Specialist with CHRS for over eight years and brings this field expertise in supplementing student learning and research driven education.

Humaira Tehsin is a teacher, writer, and literature enthusiast.  She has been associated with various educational organizations and the development industry, teaching Sociology, Gender Studies, and Anthropology for the past six years. Besides, she is also a translator and Urdu content developer. Her research interests include sociological theory, multispecies justice, human rights, and subaltern studies. She is currently a Lecturer of Sociology at the University of Home Economics, Lahore.

Shafaq Javaid is a sociologist, a teacher, and a researcher. She has an undergraduate degree in Sociology and English Literature from Forman Christian College, Lahore, and a graduate degree in Social Research with an emphasis on gender and marginalization from the University of Sheffield, UK. She is the recipient of the University of Sheffield’s International Merit Postgraduate Scholarship and the Fulbright Postgraduate Scholarship. Her research interests include women’s (spatial) mobility in South Asian public spaces, sexuality and marginalization, and the politics of why loiter. She is currently a Lecturer of Sociology at the University of Home Economics, Lahore.

Zarnish Hussain has done her Masters and M.Phil in Sociology from the University of the Punjab in 2016. Since then, she has worked as Senior Content Developer, Media and Marketing Manager and Lecturer of Medical Sociology and Sociology of Law at various prestigious institutions such as CMH Lahore Medical College and Leads Law College.
