Dr. Tayyaba Sohail

Dr Tayyaba Sohail is an Assistant Professor, In-charge of the Department of Sociology and Gender Studies at the University of Home Economics. She also has an additional charge of Director Academics at the university. She has extensive academic and administrative experience at reputable institutions in Lahore, such as the University of Management and Technology (UMT) and Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS).

At UMT she contributed to developing and designing the programs of BS Sociology, BS Social Work, M.Phil Sociology and PhD Sociology. During her tenure at LUMS, among others, she led two prime projects in the field of gender and health, funded by the David and Lucile Packard Foundation. While a student at the University of the Punjab, she was an active member of the PUMUN (Punjab University Model United Nations) society. She represented Pakistan on various national and International platforms like; DuEMUN, MUIMUN, EUROMUN, LUMUN etc.

A few areas of her key interest include but are not limited to; gender, social capital, gender-based violence, social development, Sociology of religion and Sociology of Health and Illness.
