The department of Computer Science & Information Technology has been established to meet the needs for well-skilled computer professionals by providing high quality education. The aim is to inform, challenge, and train students for a constantly changing world of technology. The department has various well-equipped computer labs with latest computer software’s and broad-band internet facility. The programs are designed to provide both an academic and professional placement. These programs will help prospective students gain additional knowledge/skills in these areas. They will have job opportunities at national and international level, belong to a connected student community and expand their network socially and professionally.

The department is offering two BS degree programs;

BS(CS) Course Overview

Computer science is the study of the theory, experimentation, and engineering that form the basis for the design and use of computers. It is the scientific and practical approach to computation and its applications. It is in fact the practice of designing and implementing large, reliable, efficient and economical software by applying the principles and practices of engineering. The program aims to train students in all aspects of software life cycle from specification through analysis and design to testing, maintenance and evaluation of the software product.

BS Information Management

The specific objectives are to enable students:

  1. Innovative and ethical leaders who understand the impact of information and technology upon a society and create value added services for their communities while promoting a culture of professional and ethical use of information.
  2. Competent enough to manage libraries, knowledge and information centers, archives, museums and records centers, and media houses in public and private sector and to design customized services for the clients in both print and digital environment.
  3. Capable of offering high quality, customized information management solutions in specialized fields such as social management and health sciences, pure and applied sciences, engineering and technology, arts, museums and so on.
  4. Techno experts who can manage and design the information systems and services for their clients to access, acquire, organize, and disseminate information and knowledge sources.
  5. Capable of designing information literacy learning programs for their communities.
  6. Well versed in using appropriate methods of research for problem solving and knowledge generation in the field.
  7. Actively engage in matters of management, policy, and preservation of cultural heritage

BS(CS) Eligibility Criteria

  • At least 50% marks in HSSC (Intermediate) or an equivalent examination AND
  • Should have studied for HSSC or an equivalent qualification, for at least two years
  • Should have EITHER
    • studied Mathematics at the HSSC or equivalent level. OR
    • candidates with pre-medical background will have to take a deficiency course of mathematics in first semester.

Q1.       Is the University of Home Economics (UHE) degree recognized?

Yes, UHE is a public sector university, and all degrees are recognized by Higher Education Commission, Islamabad.

Four (04) years/eight Semesters

Q5.      How many programs I can apply to?

A candidate can apply to as many degree programs as she may deem fit.

Q6.      What is the admission processing fee for each application?

Rs 1000/-

Q7.      What is the last date and mode of submission for admission forms?

The last date of submission of admission forms will be 31st October, and they can be submitted via hand.

Q8.    What criteria is set for applicants who missed the documents (e.g., Fee Challan, Admission Forms, Matric / inter result etc.?

The applicants must submit their missing documents by 31st October positively otherwise application forms with missing documents will not be entertained.

Q9.    Are there any Scholarship programs available?

Ehsaas program by HEC, UHE need based scholarship, UHE merit-based scholarship are available.

Q10.    Who can apply for scholarships?

All students admitted are eligible for scholarships as per criteria.

Q11.    Are there any provisions for students applying in UHE from outside of Lahore to have hostel facility in University of Home Economics?

Yes, the hostel facility is available on first come first serve basis.

Q12.    Do you offer weekend classes?


Q13.    Is there a fee refund policy?

Yes, the fee can be refunded within one week of the commencement of classes.

Q14.    What if I want to migrate to another program?

As per HEC Policy, you can migrate from one program to another only once.
