Global Conference on Iqbal’s Philosophy Concludes with a Tribute to Martyrs of Palestine
Lahore (Thursday, November 09, 2023): The University of Home Economics (UHE) concluded a three-day international conference delving into Allama Iqbal’s philosophy of peace and progress with a tribute to the martyrs of Palestine. Durmuş Baştuğ Consul General of Türkiye participated in the closing ceremony, emphasizing the importance of Iqbal’s teachings.
During the concluding session, Dr. Faleeha Zahra Kazmi, VC UHE shared 70 research papers that were presented, thoroughly discussing various facets of Iqbal’s philosophy.
She dedicated the last day to honoring the martyrs of Palestine, condemning the Israeli army’s actions in Gaza as one of the worst atrocities in human history.
Dr. Kazmi asserted that, in line with Iqbal’s teachings, there is not annihilation but life.
Addressing the gathering, Prof Dr Nimet Yıldırım, academician from Türkiye praised Iqbal for centering Eastern civilization and thought in his teachings, presenting a profound concept of mutual peace and development through his poetry, speeches, and writings.
Dr. Tanveer Qasim, director of PHEC emphasized the universal relevance of Iqbal’s teachings, countering attempts to sideline his contributions. He stressed that Muslims continue progressing by embracing Iqbal’s teachings in every era.
Dr. Qasim asserted that educating the younger generation about Iqbal’s thoughts is a core responsibility of universities, urging the dissemination of conference recommendations to other educational institutes.
The closing ceremony, hosted at Lahore College for Women University, saw the presence of Vice-Chancellor Dr. Shagufta Naz and teachers from various educational institutions. Certificates and shields were distributed among Iran, America, Tajikistan, and Turkey delegates.
Additionally, a book stall featuring Iqbal’s works offered a 50% discount on books, promoting the dissemination of Iqbal’s wisdom.
