The Alumni Association of an institution plays a vibrant role in academic, professional, and social development of its members. The University of Home Economics Alumni Association (UHEAA) has been established as per UHE Act to provide career counselling and job search services to the students and alumni  and to specifically create a vibrant and active association of institution’s graduates.

The College of Home and Social Sciences, Lahore was had its roots in the Diploma of Domestic Sciences and after independence took shape of a college in 1955 in an effort to empower women in the post partition social chaos. In the initial years Ford Foundation of USA assisted by providing advisors and scholarships to train teachers in the United States. The College had a partnership with the Oklahoma University, USA to assist in curriculum development and faculty training. This institution underwent two major changes in its name and status over a period of Sixty Eight years of its existence. The name of the institute was changed to College of Home Economics in 1970 and in 2019 it started functioning as a university after the appointment of its Founding Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Kanwal Ameen, and is currently known as University of Home Economics, Lahore.

VISION

The Alumni Association shall serve as a platform for the old graduates in facilitating their professional endeavours and the University to meet its aims in terms of academic and scholarly engagements. It shall also be engaged in the community services to meet the challenges of socio-economic advancement taking place under the realm of the 21st century.

MISSION

The mission of the UHE Alumni Association is to support the University of Home Economics, connect the community of its graduates, and foster growth in the diverse fields of related knowledge domains. The UHEAA will provide volunteer services to the University administration for any agreed upon matters. It will develop continuing development education (CPD) short term plans for the practitioners, old graduates, faculty, staff and students in collaboration with various departments of the University. Also, the Association shall provide opportunities for productive, healthy, and leisure activities of its members.

First Reunion of University of Home Economics Alumni Association followed by Sufi Musical Evening, Dinner.

With sixty eight years of glorious past and a promising future, University of Home Economics Alumni Association in collaboration with UHE organized a dinner for its alumni to provide a networking platform where they can interact and revive beautiful memories.
On the directions of Worthy Vice Chancellor UHE, Prof. Dr. Kanwal Ameen, the initiative has been taken to activate University of Home Economics Alumni Association which arranged the first Alumni Dinner followed by Sufi musical evening on 3rd March 2022 at University of Home Economics.
On the auspicious occasion Mrs. Governor Punjab, Parveen Sarwar was the Chief Guest and Mrs. CM Punjab, Sofia Usman was as special guest. The Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Kanwal Ameen, President UHEAA, Prof. Dr. Rafya Tahir, Ms. Sundas Khalid and other members welcomed the esteemed guests. The well-organized event was attended by Ms. Neelum Hayat (MPA), Justice (R). Nasira Javaid Iqbal, Prof. Dr. Kanwal Khalid (Dir. Archives), President PHEA Ms. Durdana Malik, former as well as present faculty members and distinguished alumni. After the welcome speeches, Mrs. Perveen Sarwar addressed the gathering. She appreciated the arrangements done by alumni and expressed her views about this prestigious institution and the standard of education imparted here. She further elaborated that an inclusive system should be developed to uplift the marginalized communities through education. Afterwards a cake cutting ceremony was held to kick start the new journey of UHEAA. A Sufi Medley Performance was presented afterwards which was prepared by Dr. Asma Bilal and Drama Society of UHE followed by dinner. The evening ended on a lively and promising note.

Saira Afzal Tarar is a Pakistani politician who has been a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan since 2008. She obtained her bachelor’s and master’s degree from Colleg of Home Economics.
She was elected to the National Assembly for the first time in 2008 from the Constituency NA-102. She has since been re-elected to the National Assembly from the same constituency in 2013 and 2018. In 2013, she was appointed as the Federal Minister for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination, a position she held until 2018. During her tenure as Health Minister, she worked to improve the accessibility and quality of healthcare services in Pakistan. Tarar has also been active in promoting women’s rights and has advocated for increasing the participation of women in politics. Overall, Saira Afzal Tarar is known for her political career and for her service as Health Minister of Pakistan.

Muntaha Azhar is another successful Home Economist, she got her Honours Degree from Govt. College of Home Economics in the session 2009-2015. Her major subject is Art & Design.

She also stood 1st in the merit set for the Post of Lecturer in Home Economics by the Punjab Public Service Commission. She secured 24th in CSS Exams 2020, Pakistan Administrative Service and later own joined the administrative services as Assistant Commissioner Malir Cantt.

Poet, writer Yasmeen Hameed who is presently working in the Social Sciences Department at Lahore University of Management Sciences is a well known figure in Urdu literary circle . She has translated the work of a couple of contemporary Urdu poets into English. She also writes scripts in English for Cultural/ Fashion shows sponsored by the government of Pakistan. Her five books have been published so far including Pas-e-Aina (1988), Hisar-e-be-Dar-o-Deevar (1991), Aadha Din aur Aadhi Raat (1996), Fana bhi eik Saraab (2001), and Doosri Zindagi (Collected poems, 1988–2001) in 2007.
