UHE Syndicate approves budget, 35% salary raise, 100% fee waiver for position holders
Lahore (Tuesday, November 7, 2023): The 12th meeting of the Syndicate of Home Economics University convened at the Civil Secretariat, chaired by the Minister for Higher Education, Punjab Mansoor Qadir.
During the meeting, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Faleeha Zahra Kazmi presented a comprehensive three-month performance report.
She highlighted the establishment of student centers and financial aid offices for the convenience of female students, as well as the successful resolution of long-standing issues teachers face in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
Prof. Kazmi further reported that the university is ready to launch MPhil and Ph.D. degrees, aligning with the regulations set forth by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
Notable developments were also announced, including the dedication of the university auditorium to Fatima Jinnah and the establishment of a training center in honor of Begum Ra’ana Liaquat Ali Khan.
The Syndicate, in this meeting, approved the annual budget and endorsed the university’s investment policy. Furthermore, an overtime policy for university employees received the Syndicate’s approval.
A 35% salary increase was sanctioned, following the Punjab government’s policy, and an exceptional 100% fee waiver for university admissions was granted to intermediate position holders of boards.
The Syndicate greenlit appointments for the members of the Selection Board and the Board of Advanced Studies and Research. It was decided to forward the case for the appointment of a regular Treasurer and Controller of Examinations at the University to the Chancellor for final approval.
The Syndicate committed to resolving ongoing issues concerning the university’s Tenure Track Teachers through consultation with the Higher Education Department and Finance Department.
Mansoor Qadir commended the decision to introduce Home Economics at the intermediate level within the university and praised the various development initiatives undertaken within the institution.
The meeting was attended by Registrar Shujaat Muneef Qureshi, Dr. Ghazala Irfan, Principal Kinnaird College Dr. Rukhsana David, retired bureaucrat Shahid Mehmood, Muhammad Anwar Rasheed, VC UVAS, Dr. Naseem Ahmed, ex-Dean Punjab University, Dr. Umbreen Javed, former VC Professor Dr. Najma Najam, Director of Punjab HEC Maqbool Rao, as well as representatives from the Law and Finance Departments.
