UHE Stands in Solidarity on Pink Ribbon Day
Lahore (Monday 30th October, 2023): The University of Home Economics (UHE) joined the global community in observing Pink Ribbon Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness about breast cancer and promoting early detection.
The walk was organized by Ms Laiba Butt, a Focal Person Women Development Centre in collaboration with Sociological Society for Inclusivity and Sustainability.
To mark this significant occasion, the university organized a meaningful walk, bringing together students, faculty, and staff in a collective effort to support the cause. The event aimed to highlight the importance of early diagnosis and regular check-ups to combat this widespread disease.
The walk commenced at the university’s main entrance and proceeded through the campus, with participants donning pink ribbons, the universal symbol of breast cancer awareness. Addressing the students, Professor Dr. Faleeha Zahra Kazmi, Vice-Chancellor of UHE, underscored the significance of Pink Ribbon Day and encouraged everyone to prioritize their health. She emphasized that awareness and education are vital tools in the fight against breast cancer.
Students and faculty members echoed this sentiment, sharing personal stories and experiences related to breast cancer. The walk served as a poignant reminder that, by standing together and fostering awareness, we can make a difference in the lives of those affected by this disease.
