UHE Pledges to Advance Digital Literacy Among Students

LAHORE (Monday 03 March 2025): The University of Home Economics (UHE) remains committed to promoting digital literacy, as emphasized by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zaib-un-nisa Hussain during a meeting on Empowering Women & Girls in Universities and Colleges, held at the Women Development Department (WDD), Lahore.
Dr. Zaib-un-nisa Hussain highlighted the urgent need for certificate and diploma courses on digital literacy in public universities, stressing that equipping students with financial and technological skills is essential for their academic and professional growth.
She also shared that 300 UHE students have successfully completed financial literacy training conducted by the State Bank of Pakistan, reinforcing the university’s commitment to empowering students with essential digital and financial knowledge.
The meeting was chaired by Ms. Salma Saadia Temur, Parliamentary Secretary on Women Development of the Punjab Assembly, and attended by Usman Ali Khan, Secretary WDD, Munib ur Rehman, Special Secretary of Higher Education Department, and Vice-Chancellors from various public sector universities.
During the session, the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) presented a roadmap for digital literacy. It was initially decided that the WDD will launch training workshops aimed at enhancing the financial, digital, and legal literacy skills of university and college teachers across Punjab.
This initiative aligns with UHE’s vision to prepare students for the digital era and contribute to the broader educational development agenda in Pakistan.
