UHE celebrates National Working Women’s Day; Students Perform Play to Honour Women
Lahore (Friday, December 20, 2024): A special event to mark National Working Women’s Day was organized at the University of Home Economics in collaboration with the Women Development Department. The event was attended by Vice-Chancellor Dr. Faleeha Zahra Kazmi, MPA Sadia Taimoor, President of Women Chambers of Commerce and Industries Falahat Imran, DG Population Welfare Saman Rai, Ayesha Lari, Amna Qadir, Dr. Iram Rubab, a large number of faculty members and students.
While addressing the students Prof. Dr. Faleeha Zahra Kazmi said Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is creating opportunities for women’s advancement, adding that women in prominent positions serve as a beacon of inspiration for students. She emphasized that women have played vital roles in providing social services at every critical juncture in human history.
MPA Sadia Taimoor highlighted that working women are not just those employed in formal sectors but also include mothers who selflessly nurture their children without remuneration. She affirmed Maryam Nawaz’s vision of empowering every woman, noting that the Punjab government has introduced various welfare initiatives, including a scooty scheme for female students and the Pink Button for women’s safety.
On this occasion, students of UHE performed a play depicting the challenges faced by women as a tribute to their resilience and contributions.
