UHE approves 35% salary raise, halts students’ fee

The University of Home Economics (UHE) Lahore, Finance and Planning Committee (F&PC) convened by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Faleeha Zahra Kazmi at committee room of the vice-chancellor secretariate. The meeting was attended by F&PC members and involved discussions on budget recommendations for the upcoming fiscal year.
The F&PC unanimously decided to refrain from increasing fees for students, recognizing the prevailing financial strain on parents due to recent inflation.
The committee also embraced a significant boost in the research grant, elevating it from 1.4 million rupees to 7.0 million rupees. Additionally, budget allocations for the library’s books and journals were augmented from 0.3 million rupees to 5.0 million rupees.
A pivotal decision emerged from the meeting, approving the incorporation of the 30% and 35% ad-hoc allowances sanctioned by the Punjab government, translating into augmented salaries for university faculty and staff.
Furthermore, a reduction in the processing fee for the appointment of visiting teachers was sanctioned, diminishing it from 3 thousand rupees to 500 rupees.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Faleeha Zahra Kazmi expressed that the university’s budget formulation prioritized the educational and research requirements to foster a conducive academic environment.
The F&PC recommendations will be presented in the upcoming syndicate meeting for final approval.
