The UHE Lahore celebrated World Book and Copyright day

The University of Home Economics Lahore celebrated World Book and Copyright day. UHE Library along with Literary and Debating Society hosted the event.
Prof. Dr. Zaib-un-nisa Hussain, VC UHE presided over the seminar. Dr.Haroon Usmani, Chief Librarian, University of the Punjab, Dr.Shahzeb Khan; Associate Professor, Institute Of English Studies, University of the Punjab were the keynote speakers.
A pop-up booth celebrating Shakespeare’s birthday was set in front of English Department by the students of the society and BS ELL.
Dr. Shahzeb Khan shared the significance of book reading. He quoted “Wear an old coat but buy a new book”. He recommended many books to the young students.
Dr. Haroon Usmani discussed copyright issues, policies and the role of libraries in AI led era.
The event concluded with certificate distribution to the Winners of Poem and Essay Writing competition. The first position essay writing was awarded to Ms. Rida Fatima and the first position poetry competition was awarded to Ramin Amin.
The whole celebration reinforced the university’s commitment to empowering women through education, highlighting the importance of reading literature.
