University of Home Economics organized Annual Play “Dear Departed’’

The Literary and Debating Society of University of Home Economics organized Annual Play “Dear Departed’’ in connection with the varsity’s three-day Womanhood, Wellness and Spring Celebrations, 2023.
The play was staged on the finale (Wednesday) of the three-day mega event at the university.
Originally written by Stanley Houghton, the play depicts the dwindling moral values and increasing materialism of the society through humour and sarcasm.
Javed Akhtar Mahmood, Secretary Higher Education Department (HED) attended the event as the Chief Guest.
He said that it is truly inspiring to see the talent and creativity of young students.
‘’Theatre allows students to explore different perspectives, develop critical thinking skills, and build empathy and understanding for others, so organizing such activities is appreciable. My heartfelt congratulations to the entire team on a job well done’’, the Secretary added.
Terming it as a resounding success, the Vice-Chancellor University of Home Economics, Prof. Dr Kanwal Ameen praised the talented cast of the play who brought the characters to life on stage.
“We are thrilled with the success of the play,” said Ms. Zarqa Bashir, Associate Professor and Director of the play. “Our team worked tirelessly to bring their vision to life, and it’s wonderful to see that their hard work has paid off.”
Ayesha Tahir, student of Fashion Design played the lead role of Abel Marry whereas other cast members were Esha Syed, Tayyba Khan, Laraib Fatimah, Alveena Haider and Kinza Rehman.
