Minister HED Pledges Personal Scholarships for UHE

Lahore (Monday, July 8, 2024): The newly upgraded building of the Department of Sociology and Gender Studies is inaugurated by Rana Sikandar Hayat, Minister for Higher Education Punjab, at the University of Home Economics (UHE) Lahore.

The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Faleeha Zahra Kazmi, Vice Chancellor, Salman Ghani, senior journalist, Shujaat Muneef Qureshi, Registrar UHE, Dr. Tayyaba Sohail, along with faculty and students.

Mr. Hayat paid a visit to the newly established classrooms and other facilities which are housed in an upgraded building. In her address, Prof. Dr. Faleeha Zahra Kazmi highlighted the establishment of state-of-the-art classrooms for MPhil and PhD students within the building.

She emphasized that the dedicated facility will provide students and faculty better seating and study arrangements, with a special corner allocated for research and development.

Speaking to the media, Rana Sikandar Hayat announced that Home Economics will also be introduced to schoolgirls, with the HED planning to sign an MoU with Home Economics University.

In a generous move, he announced 10 scholarships from his personal funds. He further assured that the Punjab government will provide funding support to Home Economics University.
