Expressing Support: UHE Condemns Atrocities in Gaza with Art Exhibition
A special exhibition was inaugurated to express solidarity with the oppressed humanity of Gaza. Minister of Schools Education Rana Sikandar Hayat Khan, and Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Faleeha Zahra Kazmi, officially opened the exhibition.
Lahore (Friday, May 10, 2024) An Art and Design Exhibition was organized by the Department of Visual Communication & Design. The exhibition is based on the students’ works on the themes of solidarity with Palestine curated by Chairperson VCD Aysha Bilal, Mr. Ahmed Faraz, Assistant Prof. and Mr. Muhammad Ashfaq Assistant Professor VCD.
The tremendous work by students is produced with original ideas in midst of challenges given by AI. This exhibition showcased over 50 photographs and artworks.
Minister of Schools Education Rana Sikandar Hayat Khan, Senior Journalist Salman Ghani, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Faleeha Zahra Kazmi, Principal Islamia College Dr. Akhtar Hussain Sindhu, Renowned Motivational Speaker Qasim Ali Shah, Registrar Shujaat Muneef Qureshi, Chairperson Department of Visual Communication and Design Ayesha Bilal, Director QEC Prof. Ahmad Faraz, Director Dr. Tayyaba Sohail, Director Women Development Center Dr. Iram Rabab, In-charge of Art Gallery Muhammad Ashfaq, along with teachers and students.
Addressing the seminar following the exhibition, Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat Khan praised the University of Home Economics for its solidarity with Gaza, urging other universities to follow suit.
He emphasized the potential of Pakistan’s youth, stating that they will drive positive change in the country. Referring to women’s economic contribution, he highlighted initiatives such as the Benazir Income Support Program.
He also announced plans to double the grant for Home Economics University in the upcoming budget and to enhance the educational system and curriculum in Punjab within five years.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Faleeha Zahra Kazmi reiterated the university’s condemnation of the atrocities in Gaza, emphasizing the importance of raising awareness among students.
Senior journalist Salman Ghani remarked on the global outcry against the aggression in Gaza, stressing the significance of solidarity with the Palestinian cause.
Motivational speaker Qasim Ali Shah emphasized the importance of expressing solidarity with Gaza, suggesting the creation of a Pakistani alternative to Facebook to promote freedom of expression.
The seminar concluded with a call for continued support for the people of Gaza and condemnation of the violence perpetrated against them.
