Academic block foundation laying at University of Home Economics

Lahore (31st May 2022): The Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Kanwal Ameen and Dr. Amjad Saqib, Executive Director of Akhuwat Foundation laid the foundation stone of a multi-story academic block building here at the University of Home Economics (UHE) on Tuesday. “UHE, an academic block would have classrooms, meeting room, faculty rooms, book shop, multipurpose academic hall, and studio”, said Prof. Dr. Kanwal Ameen in a briefing. She was of the view that the academic block is indispensable for launching new degree programs and expansion projects in the university. Ameen also discussed a master plan that has also been considered for starting construction projects and this plan was approved last year by the University’s Syndicate. Dr. Amjad Saqib shared his views about the importance of girls’ education and he lauded the historic role of the university in providing quality education to women. He said, a university’s progress always depends upon the visionary leader, and in this regard, during a very short span of time UHE’s growth shows the commitment of the administration. The public sector university’s role is to provide quality education to the students of humble backgrounds for uplifting their life, he added. Syed Waqas Javed, additional director of planning & development informed the Higher Education Department of Govt. of Punjab approved grant of Rs. 247.342 million for academic block construction. He also briefed the consultancy firm that was hired for the design of the building as per PPRA rules and the building will be completed in 36 months. University’s faculty and staff applauded the Vice Chancellor for achieving milestones during her three years tenure.
